Technologies & Quality

Application of modern technologies and equipment combined with the expertise of highly qualified specialists of CJSC Stroytransgaz guarantees our customers a successful implementation of oil and gas projects at any level of complexity regardless of construction conditions.

Since its foundation, the company has focused on supplying top quality welding equipment and materials for oil and gas construction applications, establishing strong contacts and feedback with equipment suppliers and consumers, understanding market needs and trends and providing quality services. In the early 2000’s, due to the experts of CJSC Stroytransgaz, automated welding systems were broadly used in Russia which significantly reduced construction times and considerably increased productivity.

By virtue of this unique experience CJSC Stroytransgaz is the industry leader in the field of diagnostics and non-destructive quality control, as well as in the application of advanced welding technology and equipment.

For the construction of pipelines, CJSC Stroytransgaz applies technologies that minimize the negative impact on the environment, including horizontal directional drilling and micro-tunneling.

For all projects – regardless of climatic conditions – the company actively applies technologies of semi-automatic and automatic welding and also automatic and semi-automatic coating of welded joints. This considerably increases productivity and quality of works.

While working on the construction of the East Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil pipeline in July, 2010, specialists of CJSC Stroytransgaz set a new world productivity record by welding together 301 segments in a single shift, resulting in a 3.5 km (2.2 mile) pipeline section. For comparison, the average productivity for manually welding joints is 15-20 welded joints in one shift, using automatic welding technology – 60-100 joints per shift.

An integrated approach to the introduction of advanced production techniques, application of the latest technologies and equipment and presence of authorized service centers also made it possible to achieve the maximum rate of construction of the Ukhta - Torzhok gas pipeline. In 2011 the specialists of JSC Stroytransgaz completed a range of works at the pipeline’s 51 km long section within only 31 days (work done by two complex process flows). The 120 km long section was completed within 180 days by a single process stream.

CJSC Stroytransgaz is the only company in Russia to employ new generation СRC-Evans AW P-700 dual torch automatic welding systems. The use of these systems in projects of various length and complexity increases performance by 30-40% in comparison with P-600 (and by 2.5-3 times compared to P-200 or P-260 single-torch external welding systems). It guarantees consistent quality of welding, allows for less on-site equipment while ensuring flexibility and upgradeability.

Specialists of CJSC Stroytransgaz have unique knowledge and experience in the field of diagnostics within Russia. The company has mastered the use of automated ultrasonic pigging systems for oil and gas inspection and maintenance. For the first time in Russia, the specialists of CJSC Stroytransgaz used automated ultrasonic pigs to inspect a pipeline section at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in 2010 - to determine the state of discharge in the port of Novorossiysk, which at that time was not in working condition. In 2012-2013 the specialists carried out the re-inspection of the three sections of the CPC in the Novorossiysk Port as part of scheduled maintenance.

The competitive advantage of CJSC Stroytransgaz in the field of non-destructive quality control is our experience in the application of automated ultrasonic testing. The use of this technology approximately doubles the speed of work and improves measurement accuracy of defects approximately fourfold. For the first time in Russia a system of automated ultrasonic testing was used for the Sakhalin-2 project in 2006. Subsequently, under the supervision of our company, these systems have been used for more than 20 oil and gas projects, including Sakhalin-1, Kirinskoye field, Bovanenkovo – Ukhta and on-shore parts of Nord Stream. CJSC Stroytransgaz also applies high X-ray control, which significantly increases the overall speed and quality of the work.

CJSC Stroytransgaz has invested significant resources into the development of the training centers network in Russia. Our training center in the Smolensk Region hosted and tested a certification process for new welding technology later used to build the onshore section of the Nord Stream pipeline. The company also cooperates with leading industry institutes in Russia, such as Gazprom VNIIGAZ and NIPIStroyTEK. Through this cooperation we aim to continuously develop proprietary construction technology that will enable us to become the leading Russian provider of Engineering, Procurement and Construction services in the global oil and gas industry.
