In the Krasnodar region, construction has started on the Kazachya (“Cossack”) compressor station (CS). Construction is being financed by Gazprom, on behalf of Gazprom Invest, and the general contractor is CJSC Stroytransgaz. Currently, the foundation is being built for the production facilities of the future station.

The start of construction of the compressor station represents an important stage in the project for the construction of the South Stream gas transmission system, and the provision of natural gas to the central and southern regions of Russia.

The total design capacity of Kazachya CS is 200 MW. Besides transporting natural gas, it will purify the gas by removing moisture and impurities. The annual capacity of the station totals 63 billion cubic meters of gas. The station's eight pumping units will supply gas at a pressure of 11.8 MPa to the Russkaya ("Russian") compressor station. From there, gas will flow into the South Stream pipeline.
